Celebrating Windrush 70th Anniversary
“Children of the First Generations” is a originally theatre play written and performed by Victor Richards, but now Victor is simply going to tell the story which will recapture the spirit of growing up in England in the Late 60’s, 70’s and early 80’s, as seen through Victor’s eyes and the experiences of his peers, spanning his childhood, adolescents and early adulthood.
The storyline centres around Granville, the son of Augustus Cleveland Johnson the character in the first play “Streets Paved with Gold”. Granville was born in England. After immigrating to Barbados for 15 years he decides to return to England (His country of Birth) with his wife and their two lovely children. It is his desire for his children to complete their education here and the family to acquire an affluent lifestyle. However his wife and children have been uprooted and there is no certainty as to whether they can make the adjustments necessary to settle in England.
After being here for a year Granville decides to throw a house warming party and invites his old friends acquaintances and family members ..... during his preparation for the party he begins to reminisce .... his trip down memory lane encompasses many experiences and encounters.
This is a story of Children of Windrush generation – recapturing the Music, Fashion, Schoolboy daze and humour, Adolescence, Work, Family, Relationship and the realisation of the impact of racism, just to mention a few of the issues. The script provides a realistic and thrilling account of the experiences faced by the first generation and the legacy which we have inherited as we continue to celebrate and acknowledge the contributions made by Windrush generations.

EAST
by Steven Berkoff
Contains explicit language and scenes of a sexual nature.
Age restriction 15+
Dad, Mum, Sylv, Mike & Les double up as chorus in this great play by
Steven Berkoff.
Mum and Dad represent what Sylv, Mike and Les will become if they do not escape their surroundings of the East End.
This is a Steven Berkoff in your face special. First performed at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1975.
Berkoff has forged outrageous poetry to the Shakespearean Rhythms and cockney slang.
This marvellous production of EAST reminds us how powerful Steven Berkoff’s outrageous poetry with the collision of Shakespearean rhythms and cockney slang is. Set in 1960’s London’s East End it reminds us of Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange. There is an explosive youthful anarchy that marries up with today’s society in many ways. With strong language, sexual content and a racist, misogynist Dad, East is laced with a poisonous nostalgia that emanates from within.

Taking place sequentially in the three beleaguered couples' bedrooms during one endless Saturday night of co-dependence and dysfunction, beds, tempers, and domestic order are ruffled, leading all the players to a hilariously touching epiphany.

An evening of live music from the talented and versatile Jack T Harper
There are very few performers today who can make the successful transition from being one of the top Blues singers in the country to an all round musical entertainer with an astonishing, eclectic repertoire and a stage personality that's brought him to the attention of a whole new audience.
From Blues and soul, to swing and contemporary pop, Jack has the ability, stage presence, experience and ‘wow’ factor that will give any occasion that extra layer of musical entertainment that cannot fail to please lovers of great music.
Jack has a very distinctive and endearing voice that brings something new to each and every song. His arrangements of some of the biggest classic hit songs makes his performance stand out and above all other bands and performers around today. Whether it be a small private party or a rock stadium Jack has the ability to adapt both his repertoire and the size of his band to suit the occasion.
Jacks musical skills are so varied that one performance will take him from playing a mean harmonica, through flamenco guitar to full-on electric rock. With some very talented musicians behind him, Jack has the ability and experience to read any room and deliver some classic sets that nobody will forget.

The Swinging Blue Jeans
Formed in Liverpool in 1961 as The Blue Jeans, The Swinging Blue Jeans followed virtually the same path to success as many of their Merseybeat contemporaries during the early 1960s. After playing a succession of local dance halls and club engagements, including the Cavern Club, they travelled to Germany and appeared at the Star Club, Hamburg. The Jeans had their own ‘Tuesday Guest Night’ while they were resident band at the Cavern. One of the first bands they invited as their guests were The Beatles!
The Swinging Blue Jeans were originally founded by Ray Ennis and Les Braid. In 1962, they were signed to a recording contract by HMV Records and their debut single It’s Too Late Now in 1963 just crept into the British charts at Number 30. Their next single Hippy Hippy Shake crashed into the Hit Parade and just fell short of the Number 1 slot. Their follow-up release, Good Golly Miss Molly followed suit and their next single You’re No Good reached Number 3 in Britain. They famously engaged in a punch up with the Rolling Stones at the BBC studios during recording of the first show of Top of the Pops as a result of an argument over a ball point pen for signing autographs.
One of Britain’s good time bands, they were essential a visual group, and they could never hope to capture the excitement of their live performances on record. And, after scoring in the charts once more with Don’t Make Me Over in 1966, their career went into a steep decline.
However, despite several line-up changes The Swinging Blue Jeans are still going strong. Until May 2010, when he made the decision to retire, The Swinging Blue Jeans still featured original member Ray Ennis – lead, rhythm guitar and vocals (centre front) with Phil Thompson, drums, and Alan Lovell, lead guitar, vocals. Les Braid died in 2005.
